Mon-19-May-2008 - All About Horn Hair Combs

Posted in The Adventure, My Life

As I've now had two people ask about the horn hair combs I mentioned, I'm going to copy & paste the email I typed to the first person since the second person didn't leave a name. :) As I said in the email, I didn't plan to blog about this, but in case people are wondering, here is everything I have to pass along.

~Ashley~

Dear ----,

You would *have* to ask that, LOL! :) I was planning to blog about it, but I don't think I will now, and here is why: I can't really recommend the place, or I can, but with hesitation!

I ordered 3 combs. Two of "A" and one of "B". (One for me, one for a friend, one for my brother's girlfriend.)

The order was shipped almost 2 weeks after they said it was, but with two extra combs. Hooray! However, when I got the package, I received a single "A" comb and 4 random combs.

Now, I like them but I'm not sure if you ordered one if you would have any assurance of getting the one you ordered!

Here is the site I ordered from.
http://www.handicraft-vn.com/shop/natural-real-horn-hair-combs-c-88.html

This is what I ended up with:

One C00-1 (instead of C-011) Too thin for my taste, and I don't crave a handle, personally. This one will go to my bro's gf, it's still pretty.

C-013 (I ordered 2 and recieved one) possibly my fave! I use it to scritch my scalp.

C-029 (the xtras, I think) I'm so glad I got one of these! It doesn't look pretty but it works the way I thought the C-013 would. The teeth are farther apart and it really glides through my hair. I think it is going to be hard not to keep one of these AND the C-013! :)

C-020 It's like a man's comb. I don't know what I'm going to do with it - except that I'm going to try to file the teeth on it differently so it's more comfortable to use. A friend got a men's comb and took a file and made the gaps between the teeth bigger. So I know it can be done, LOL.

You might google hair horn comb but many of them are lots more expensive and one of the sites does not have an appealing names. :( This is a resonable one:

http://heavenlyharvestinc.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/2_30/products_id/119?osCsid=5e83835b44c9036f23e97943deaba067

But I wasn't sure if it looked sturdy? If I had it to do over again I would probably try this one. I just like being able to run a comb through my hair more than twice without getting static!!!!

So, that's about all I have. Except put lanolin on it occasionally -every few months? - and don't use one on wet hair. Unless you have money to spend on another comb! :)

I hope this helps. I really wish I had something more to pass along!

Ashley
