Mon-28-Apr-2008 - My Eldest
I love my eldest son . . . from the very first moment I held him on my chest and realized that he was mine, I have been his. I have loved every moment of being his Mommy; it has taught me so much and been quite an adventure!
BUT . . . .
Perhaps I should have realized when Samuel was born on his Daddy's birthday that there would be something special between them. I will always believe that a special bond was forged when Jonathan did nothing but pace the house, cradling his tiny son and staring into his eyes the entire night of the 9th when Samuel was awake all night and I was exsausted. It was a grueling start to fatherhood but it created something deep.
The fact is, Samuel has always been Daddy's boy; Jonathan's little shadow from the very, very beginning. He has always slept better for his dad and been more content in his Daddy's arms. The first slobbery kisses were for Jonathan and to this day I get one kiss to J's 3 or 4! When there are owies, it doesn't matter if I'm closer, he runs to his Dad. I must have a bazillion pictures from birth to 1yo of Samuel peering over Jonathan's shoulder or perched happily in his arms.
So it was no suprise to realize that Samuel wasn't playing around the room anymore and to turn around and see this:

He became tired, and squiggled up onto the sofa with Daddy. Yep, that's my boy!
Good night, ya'll.

that's too sweet!!!
Our son would do the same thing...he was Daddy's shadow from the time he could crawl. I was fine for awhile, but it was ALL Daddy!
Love your photos!!
Blessings,
Laurie

mine are opposite! my boy, if anything, is more attached to me. but the girls - only daddy will do. only daddy can help go potty, and only daddy can snuggle to sleep and only daddy can help when tender feelings get hurt. I guess that is why God made a mommy AND a daddy for His children.

oh, I filled my potato garbage can with water yesterday to see how it would drain....
it didn't. But I buried the can about 6 inches to prevent the wind (which is outrageous here) from blowing it away, and I think it was the dirt around my can - it is very clay-ey!but I am going to go out this morning and see if the water drains within a day. that should be okay, don't you think?
