There just never seems to be enough time to get everything done that I want to do. I have good intentions but the things that "have" to be done always get in the way of the things I want to do. I want to make life simpler.. less complicated. There are some things that I can't change, I HAVE to work, I'm on my one so a job is necessary. I can make do on just a part time job though. We may have to do without some of the nicer things.. but I feel that the time that I can spend at home with my kids is much more important then anything I could buy. I'm also very fortunate to have a wonderful job where I can bring the boys with me if I need to, and their very good about giving me time off if its needed. I thank God for helping me find a job that fits well with my family situation. Another thing that I won't give up is home schooling. It's too important to me.. and to the boys... I will find a way to make it all work and fit everything in. I guess it's just "me" time that I long for... a few hours here and there to crochet, read a book, work on a project... just some time to do whatever I want without constantly worrying about what has to be done. All in all I'm blessed and very thankful for the life I have and I guess I shouldn't complain. These years will go by quickly and the kids will grow up and I'll then be missing these busy days and wishing I had more to do. A Poem

It's snowing in Meigs County tonight. I'm sitting here watching the snow fall outside the library window. It's so pretty! I won't enjoy driving home in it tonight though. I got to spend some time holding Logan today. He's such a cutie.. and growing so much already. I love being a grandma! Just wish I could spend more time with him. There's a poem that I was thinking of today... I used to recite it to myself a lot when my own kids were little. Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow Cause babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow, So quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep, I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep. I was thinking about that today when I was holding Logan. Lots of things that I needed to do, but nothing that couldn't wait until later. Nothings more important then holding and loving the babies. Getting things accomplished.

I managed to get several things accomplished during my three days off work. The Christmas tree is up and the house is all decorated. It's starting to look like Christmas! My ex husband and I did some Christmas shopping for the kids, we've got that just about finished now. I'm always glad when the shopping is done.. The kids aren't getting a lot this year.. but they won't mind. They understand that money is pretty tight this year. They really don't ask for much. Their good kids. I've been making some crocheted slippers and I'm really happy with the way they turned out. I just kind of made them up as I went along. I hate following a pattern. I'm a rebel I guess... have to come up with it on my own. lol I might give my mom and sister in law a pair for Christmas along with their gifts I've gotten them. My ex even said he'd like a pair made from the camo colored yarn. Might make him and the boys some. Our floors at home are all wood so it's nice to have something like that to wear on your feet on the cold days. We had an unusually warm day yesterday, 60 degrees. It was so nice! Wish it could be like that every day! Spring will come! And I can't wait! I'm not much of a cold weather kind of girl. I'm reading a book by Billy Graham called The Journey. It seems like it's going to be a very good book so far. It's making me look at things in a different way then what I did before. I had originally got the book on cd for my friend Mark to listen to while he was on the road, he's a truck driver, and he told me I really should listen to it too. So today I found the copy of the book here at the library where I'm working. I'm just about to make the step of homeschooling the boys on my own. I've been doing some research on the internet about whats required here in my state and I think I'm about ready. The boys are excited and so am I!

Things are going well here at my house. I went with my daughter today to take Logan for his two week check up and he's doing great. He's up to 7 pounds and 4 ozs now. The doctor was surprised at his weight gain. He does like to eat.We got the Christmas tree put up over the weekend.. but I wasn't really happy with the way it looked so the boys and I made some decorations for it today. Paper snowflakes. It looks nice now. I'm happy with it. deer season is over for another year. Both the boys got a deer on their first day of hunting. They're at their dads now.. cutting up the meat and getting it put in the freezer. I had dinner at moms tonight and visited with her and dad and my sister in law and her kids. We have dinner together once a week, we've been doing that for several years now. Just a chance for everyone to catch up and spend some time together. well.. better get back to work. Hope everyones had a good day! It's been a long day!

I did a little thrift store shopping this morning.. found a few treasures! Some Christmas decorations, in case I actually ever find time to get the tree put up. Some cute little things for the new grandson, and a really cool black wool sweater with flowers embroidred on it for me and a nice pair of jeans in my size. Got the boys started on their school work and then I left for work, which is where I am now. I work tomorrow and then I get three days off and I have a weeks worth of things I want to get accomplished in those three days.! I found a few recipes that I want to try while I'm off... Here's one of them Peanut Butter Candy 2 cups of sugar 2/3 cup of milk 6 tablespoons of peanut butter (heaping) 1/4 pound (about 26) saltine crackers crumble the crackers medium fine 1 teaspoon of vanilla Mix sugar with the milk. Boil exactly three minutes. Add Peanut butter, saltine crackers and vanilla Beat with a spoon until mixture starts to get thick. Then drop quickly by teaspoon onto waxed paper or pour into a buttered pan. Yeilds about 40 peices of candy. I have a friend that is always giving me peanut butter and saltine crackers that is given to her through a commodities program. So I figure this might be a good use for them. Something a little different. We made our big batch of buckeyes a few days ago. It's a Thanksgiving tradition for us.. the family gets together and makes buckeyes. I always eat too many of them though. Oh well.. it's just once a year. Question about home schooling high schoolers....

Does anyone else out there home school high school aged children? My son is 15 and at this time he's using a charter school on line but I'm not happy with it at all. I just wonder how complicated it would be for me to home school him myself without the charter school. I think I can do it... but just want to make sure I'm not getting into more then I can handle. Jan I've had the flu

well.. I got the flu.. it didn't skip me as I'd hoped it would. It lasted about twenty four hours and then went away.. on to attack some other family I guess. I haven't got to see baby Logan for two days as I didn't want to take a chance on him getting sick. Courtney took him for his first check up today.. and I guess the dr. who did his circumcision didn't do a very good job and he may have to have some "cosmetic" surgery done later to fix it right. Courtney was pretty upset about this as she doesn't want to see him have to go through the pain again. Poor little guy... Today was the first day of deer season here and both my boys got themselves a deer. will be nice to have the meat in the freezer for winter time. Their both very good hunters. I'm proud of them. I didn't accomplish very much today as I'm still feeling a little under the weather from the flu.. but I did get some laundry done and a quick straightening up around the house. I worked tonight from 5 till 9 and then taking Jacob and a friend to see the movie that we didn't get to see the other day. This is our third try at seeing this movie.. hopefully.. this time..we'll get to see it. If not.. then I give up and we'll wait for it to come out on video. A Glimpse Into My Day

Not a lot going on today. I've been at work since 9:00 and was planning to take my oldest son to the movies to see Twilight after work but he just called and said he's coming down with the flu so I guess we won't be going to the movies after all. This was our second attempt to see the movie, the first night we went we had been there for about fifteen minutes when my daughter called my cell phone and told me she was at the hospital and thought she was in labor. So, we left the movie and went to be with her. She didn't end up having the baby that night though... they sent her home after a few hours. My younger son just had this stomach virus a few days ago.. and their dad also has it now. I hope it skips me! I REALLY hope it skips me! I don't have time to get sick! So many things that I need to get done and there never seems to be enough time to get it all accomplished. I guess most of us have that problem though. Courtney stopped by here at the library and let me hold Baby Logan for awhile. Today's the first day she's felt like getting out and going anywhere. He sure is a cutie. I just want to sit and hold him all day. I'm A Grandma!

Well here I am again... back at Homestead Blogger. I had a blog here before but with things changing so much in my life I stopped blogging. I'm ready to give it a try again and look forward to connecting with some old friends again. There have been so many changes in my life this year, my husband and I seperated, my daughter is getting married, I'm having my first grandchild, I have a new job that I love, and a very special friend that I'd looked for for many years is now back in my life! Life is good, busy.. hectic.. but I wouldn't have it any other way. If I'm busy.. then I know I'm needed. And that's a good feeling. |
