The AMAZING story of Kim Phuc.

Hiya'll!Its Robyn!I am OVER my sickness!Yesh!Ok so here we go.Last night we went to a nearby church to see a woman named Kim Phuc speak.It only cost 5 dollars.Mom had told me about this girl before.I didn't know very much about her but now I do.When we got to the church,a very pretty lady with a beautiful kumodo/dress/pants walked into the room.It waa Kim.When she was nine years old,she lived in a big house in vietnam.She said she was always happy,she knew nothing of pain or of fear,but one day everything went wrong.War had come to her village.All the villagers were hiding in the village temple,to escape the soldiers.They heard planes overhead,and were told to run,so they ran from the temple,just as an american fighter plane dropped four napalm bomb.Napalm is jellyed gasoline.Kim and her family came running out.Kim's 3 year old baby cousin was dead,and her other cousin would die.Her brother's ran beside her.KIms clothes had been burned off her skin,and skin hund from her body like scraps of cloth.The napalm burns under your skin at the temperture of 800 degree's.A photographer grabbed Kim by her arm and begain pouring water over her,whiched made the napalm burn to 1000 degrees.Kim was taken to the hospital.She was out cold.She was put in the "dead room" and was left to die.A skin burn specilist found her and took her to his clinic.She had 17 surgurys.She became a christian to!Lots of other things happend to her,but I don't have time to tell you everything.She was ordered around in veitnam , and decorated a war hero (or something).She really wanted to be a doctor at the time but she was never left alone to study cause she was always being watched.one day she met the prime ministar.She begged him to let her go study somewhere quiet so he sent her to Cuba.She thought she'd never be loved because of the scar's across her arm,but she was wrong.She met her husband in Cuba (And they now have two children)At first Kim was not allowed to go on her honeymoon.Only her husband could go (Remember,in these country's the people in charge say what goes and if you don't like it,you can't do anything)Finally the went them go on they're honeymoon.On the way back from thier honeymoon they had to stop for a hour in Canada to refuel the airplane.Kim wanted to stay in Canada so bad!She plotted with her husband,and said maybe if they hide in the bathroom stall's and stand on the toilets so no one would see them,they'd get to stay,but her husband didn't like that.She saw some people through a small slit in the wall.She asked them in Spanish (Thats what the people spoke)What they were doping.They replied "We want to stay in Canada!"."Oh!pLEas help me!" said Kim."I want to stay to!What do you need to do!" they told her to give her passport to a certain man and they did.He took them in for interviwing,and when they're plane flew out,they were waving at it!A few years age she met,and forgave the man who planned the bombing she was in.She FORGAVE him!That would be so hard,but she could do it!That was her presentasion.When we walked out to leave,we bought her dvd and I got a card atographed from her.She wrote "Keep your dreams alive" on it.It was strange,because when I came I knew her from the girl ,running down the street and screaming,in a picture,but now I feel like I've known her all my life!Its so amazing!Here is her website !www.kimfoundation.com |
