Stocking the Pantry

Dearest Readers,
What is it about open shelves in a pantry that speaks to us of days gone by? I receive such joy when I come home from the market and fill all of my jars and baskets. I find that my well-stocked pantry invites me into my kitchen to create so much more than those brightly colored boxes! If you have a space in your kitchen I highly encourage you to empty your boxed goods into a sparkling jar, then stand back and feel yourself slip graciously into another era....
Yours in kindred spirit,
Shan

I love my pantry....I would be so lost without it! I have always kept my goods in large mason jars and baskets!! A well stocked pantry has always been something I have had alot of pride in.

I'm slowly working towards having glass jars, crocks, etc to use for my pantry and cupboards. It's part of organization, cleanliness (no cardboard for any stray weavils or mice to get into) and general home-loveliness.
Thanks for visiting my blog at www.hillsidecottage.blogspot.com! I'm adding yours to my favorites list!

Your pantry is beautiful. Mine is fucntional and practical, but very cluttered. Maybe you have some advice on some things that clutter up my pantry that I don't know what to do with. For instance, small, odd-shaped appliances like the crock-pot, breadmaker and Foodsaver. Love your new blog!

Oh, your pantry is just lovely. I love those jars and have seen them at Hobby Lobby, I may have to start acquiring them for my own pantry. I have started trying to use more glass jars but it is a slow process unless I just want to spend alot of money up front, which I don't. These jars are much prettier than reuseable pickle jars, however those do work too.
Blessings to you,
Rashel

I love the picture above. It definately reminds me of Grandma's shelves on the back porch of her home from when I was little.
God's Blessings,

What a great idea! I never really thought about stocking my pantry (cupboards) using jars and getting rid of those boxes.
I'm going to have to incorporate your ideas! For I LOVE things of old!

I've been converting over my pantry, so your picture is wonderfully inspirational! I am so glad you sent me the link over here. I wish you lived next door! You are close though. Maybe we can try to meet up somewhere in the middle soon...

One of my blog readers told me about your site. I love what you've done with this space. Very attractive and inviting. Have fun stocking it!
Perhaps you and your readers might be interested in my book, THE PANTRY-Its History and Modern Uses [Gibbs Smith, 2007]. Hardcover, many color illustrations and vintage images, nostalgic memories, practical ideas. And quite affordable, I believe, at $16.95 (much less on Amazon).
I will visit your lovely site again.
All best, Catherine Seiberling Pond

Aunt Shan,
I just stumbled across your blog here. It looks wonderful. I've started my own blog too. I'm just running by, but wanted to say hi. When I have a chance I plan to send you the link to my blog. It is under construction and reform right now. Glad to at least have gotten a short glimpse of you and the fam at Andy's wedding reception. Hope to talk more soon.
Your nephew,
Jason
