Welcome to the Carnival of Homesteading. You've probably heard of the Carnival of Homeschooling, which is a weekly 'carnival' where you can find a wide variety of posts about homeschooling. You may also have heard of the Carnival of Principled Government by Mrs. Dana Hanley, the Carnival of Space, and the Carnival of Education, but where do we homesteaders fit it?
As I was tilling my garden today, I was thinking about all the different people who homestead. Then my thoughts were turned towards the Carnival of Homeschooling, which I will be submitting a post for tomorrow's carnival. I thought, "how great would it be to have a carnival dedicated to just homesteading?" There is plenty to write about and share ideas with other bloggers who have a love for the open fields, tall tomato plants and the smell of fresh baked bread. A place where you can go and find a bunch of articles that may be similar or very different, but all the same just what you were looking for. Plus, this will help bloggers who have great ideas but who aren't "out there" have their ideas read and shared.
So, here it is. This will be a weekly carnival, posted every Monday. Submissions will need to be in by 9pm (Eastern Time) on Sunday night, but please try to get them in by Friday or Saturday night. Anyone is welcome to submit posts and I am looking for blogs to host it. Please email me if you are interested, and you don't have to have a blog that's only for homesteading. If you do any of the below categories, than you are welcome to participate! I know plenty of bloggers on HomeschoolBlogger.com who homestead but don't keep a HomeSTEADblog.
Here is what the type of posts the Carnival needs:
- The Kitchen = cooking, organic living, food, storage, canning, and baking.
- Homemade = homemade items. Such as: soap, cloth diapers, sewing, quilting, clothes.
- The barnyard = anything having to do with your barn and your barnyard animals (milking, eggs/chickens, 'yes and no's'.
- The garden = gardening, tips, flowers, resources, fencing, greenhouses, and books on gardening
- The dining room = how you live as a homesteader, your family and how you incorporate your daily life with your schooling.
- The medicine cabinet = natural cures and remedies.
- Around the house = midwives, babies, toddlers and breastfeeding.
- The workshop = crafts, building projects, tractors and 'guy stuff'.
I know there are plenty of you who have much more to contribute to this and I probably haven't even scratched the surface with the things you do on your homestead.
