The Perils of Economics

Shared in The Family Altar

Granny Miller is coming back to blogging and shared this entry.  I just had to share it.  While I'm a complete dolt when it comes to things like government, politics and economics, I have brains enough to know that The United States cannot keep going on like it has been.  That's simple common sense and history.

People are blinded by the government in our society.  They have allowed far too much power to large corporations, money-changers and government offices that it cannot help but come back to bite us.  According to many on the political watch, this bank trouble and Wall Street collapse is just the start of a domino effect that has been brewing for many years.

And we all sit back and watch.  Minor complaints here and there, some righteous indignation now and then, but for the most part, no one is really looking at the practical steps that need to be taken.  They look back on things like the Y2K non-event and laugh.

Did you ever stop long enough to truly consider the potential of Y2K?  I mean, from a serious point of view, did you ever wonder what exactly you would do if it occurred, even on a small level?  That's a poor choice of words -- there is no small level when you think about it.  We have interlocked our economy and our material needs so tightly, if one misses a step, it will mos certainly have a domino effect to a fairly sizable level in no time.

I know most folks live in a bubble of sorts when it comes to this.  Some fully believe that collapse is impossible.  Some laugh, rather loudly, at the mere thought of the mark of the Beast/cashless society ever truly taking hold.

Personally, I think you're fools in that aspect, but that's just my opinion.  Look at our society right now -- some gas stations won't take cash.  It's shopping card or debit card/credit card or nothing.  Everyone has been goaded into online banking, eBill services, buying everything they could ever want online without needing a real-life store.  They purchase everything with credit or use their debit.  Paychecks are automatically deposited.  You never truly handle your own money anymore.  It's all done for you.

Like leading sheep to the slaughter.  All you need is an open door and a chute to direct the traffic.

We certainly have that today.  Everyone has been pushed gently and slowly into believing this is so much simpler, so much easier for everyone.  Foolishness.  Scriptures clearly say this is coming...and it's not in mainstream text, and certainly not in the flluff the seeker-friendly churches are spouting.  But it's there in Revelation.  It is the begining of the end.  Truthfuly, I would probably call it more like the middle of the pathway to the end.  Maybe even alot closer than that.

But, back to practicailites.  Should these 'fanatics' who have been preaching gloom and doom actually have something and this is the beginning of the end, things are going to get progressively worse...such as economic collapse and someone coming forward to help us all out (btw...that would be the AntiChrist if you're reading about the Truths in Revelation...)  what are you going to do?  Think seriously for a moment.
  •  How are you going to eat?
  • Where are you going to get your water needs from?
  • What will you use for currency?  You monies are all tied up in plastic and e-services, remember?
  • How will you protect yourself, your family, your home?
  • What are you going to do for utilities -- electricity, gas, cooking?
  • Do you have any food storage?  Do you have any means of growing food?
What exactly are you prepared for?  Are you living in the middle of Suburbia?  Sure, not everyone is going to 'bug out' but when (and not if...) we fall into total collapse here in America, the worst place to be will be in the middle of a concrete subdivision where you have little recourse for actually survival.  Well, let's just say you won't find my family there.  I want a bit more control...whatever that might be when things happen.

I'm not trying to change your minds...just trying to share ome practical points that seriously need to be considered.  Those blinders most folks are wearing are going to be ripped off soon.  As Spurgeon said (ok, related to Salvation and our sharing The Gospel...but it fits here as well if you think about it...

If sinners will be ****ed at least let them leap to hell over our bodies.  And if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay.  If hell must be fille, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let no one go there unwarned or unprayed for.

If our friends and families are destined for hell and peril in the coming days, at least let them go there fully warned and with the tools of prepartion handed to them by those of us who are not blinded by Big Brother and his tactics.

Bail Out

Posted: 25 Sep 2008 03:15 PM CDT

I'm enjoying my break from blogging and will be back to regular posting probably sometime late next week.

I have spent the past week watching the Cash For Trash debacle unfold via C-Span while I make grape juice, apple butter, pumpkin butter and do some heavy cleaning.

I just now read that a panic stricken Congress will vote on some type of Bank Band Aid Bailout.

Like other politically minded bloggers I want to weigh in on the current "crisis" and I also want to give some advice to my readers.
Whether or not you choose to take my advice is of course your own business.

Here's where I stand on the issue:

I oppose any government intervention in the current Wall Street Panic.

The proposed bailout is the biggest money and power grab in the history of the Unites States.

The Federal Reserve is a cancer eating away at our Nation, Freedom and our Liberty.
It is my opinion, that the Central Bank System is for the most part the sole cause for our current economic problems.

I am appalled at the proposed shift of power and unchecked authority to the Federal Reserve and to the Department of Treasury.

Section 8 of the LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL FOR TREASURY AUTHORITY TO PURCHASE MORTGAGE-RELATED ASSETS makes me positively see red:

"Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency."

I would be funny if it wasn't for real and it will be very interesting to see if it is left in the current proposal.

I am also extremely concerned about reports that foreign corporations with a United States affiliate will participate in the federal bailout.

It is my opinion that by doing nothing now the markets will correct naturally.
By doing nothing we will most certainly suffer economically in the short run, but it won't last for years.

All grownups know that sometimes medicine is hard to take.

We can as a Nation act like grown ups and take our medicine now and get better.
Or we can act like children, refuse a bitter pill and let paternalistic government take control.

Big band aids and denial can't cure cancer, but they do sometimes make children feel better.

So the news today is that the cowards and wimps in Congress don't have the back bone to swallow the pill.
Our elected representatives have just insured that we are going to drag this problem out and with a much more serious consequence.
I believe a full blown economic depression and market crash is now only a matter of time.
I wonder if we have a year left?

Here's my advice:

If you haven't already, I encourage all of you to do what you can and to make sensible, concrete plans for yourselves and your families today.

If you have not made preparations to do without electricity, phone service, water and transportation I urge you to do it now.

The coming collapse will make services that you take for granted a hit or miss affair.

If you have consumer debt pay it off as fast as you can.
The coming Credit Card Crisis is just around the corner.

Find a way as much is possible to live outside the paper money economy.

If you do not have food enough set aside to go for at least 2 months without a trip to the grocery store, please begin to consider what could happen if store shelves become empty and stay that way.
Stock up on supplies even if it's only an extra $10 or $15 of canned food every week.

It is imperative that you keep enough cash on hand to weather an extended "bank holiday".
Same goes for prescription medication.
Stock up if you can.

Also, if you do not know how to safely use a firearm to protect yourself and your property, I would strongly encourage you to contact Gun Owners Of America or the National Rifle Association and sign up for a self defense course.
Food and gas shortages, bank runs and economic collapse will breed civil unrest.

We are in for hard times, and all the wishing for it to not be so won't change what lies ahead of us.

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around (the banks) will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

Thomas Jefferson, Letter to the Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin (1802)

I just talked to a good friend about the same thing yesterday. It's a scary to actually see "these things coming to pass."

I know that my family is trying everything that we can to prepare. It's just so hard when you are living paycheck to paycheck to begin with.

God is in control though. We must never forget it. He will provide for His people. Or He will prepare His people for the coming persecution. Either way, we must stay close to Him.

Thanks for the post!

Friday, September 26, 2008 - my thoughts

Shared by blessedmomof10

Fabulous post, Deana! I agree 100% on this......... but sadly americans have their head in the sand.......
I have been feeling for years that we are heading into a huge mess......... I mean we are in a huge mess morally in this nation... but I do believe we are heading into an economic mess.... or shall I say we have been in a mess for years now and it's not going to get better!
Amazingly -- I talk to some who think the solution is more government?????? Huh? Did I miss something?
To me the answer is simple and clear..... we need to turn our hearts back to God.......
We have become an adulterous nation - idol worshipping money, media, etc.

" It is the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not..... They are new every morning, great is thy faithfullness". Lamentation 3:22-23

I just finished a study of Jeremiah....... it's so clear....
when we turn away from God ... well good things don't come of it...... and that is what we have done.
Hundreds of years ago, a band of believers came here seeking to worship God freely and simply........

This nation was to be a godly nation......

Look where we have come to?

Are we suprised by the moral decay and now the economic decay?

My constant prayer is that we, as Americans will turn our hearts again to our first love....... that we will repent and fall on our faces before God..... and if we do this I believe He *will* heal our nation........

Blessings,
gloria

~~I totally agree with you Gloria. I truly feel we are sitting in the midst of Sodom and Gomorrah here in our society anymore. And sadly, there are precious few standing before God in righteousness saying please...if I can find just 10 good people, just 10 Godly people, can we be spared?

It's getting just as difficult to find those 10 Godly people today as it was then. We are nearing the point where no amount of falling on our faces before God will bring peace, I think. Not that He can't...just that there is a point where you have rejected Him beyond His Grace more or less. We are a society of fluff and simply unGodliness. We are not the nation we once were at all, and it shows in the steps we have taken with our backs turned to God.

We are, and will, reap what we have sown. It isn't pretty and it isn't going to be short-lived at all. But it is totally of our doing and we are going to have to realize that and truly repent of it. Not just pay it lip service.

God help us and have mercy on us in the coming trials,
Deanna

Saturday, October 4, 2008 - Amen!

Shared by Hisirishgem

Deanna,

I've been saying similar things on my blog as well as other forums and have gotten knocked around by American Liberals who think more governement is the way.

They can't even handle the DMV and they're taking over everything else now?!

We've got supplies on order and have already been stocking up on Toilet paper, water, wheat flour, and I'm waiting for my order bulk beans and brown rice to come in hopefully in the next week.

Family and friends think I'm nuts. They roll their eyes , while they have two car loans, a mortgage and are weeks away from losing their jobs due to takeovers. Yet instead of buying supplies and necessities, they go to a cat show to buy another 300.00 fru, fru cat.

It's pretty scarey because people don't care anymore. America has become a country of people who think their intitled instead of working for what they have. As I said in my own blog, America is a country that freely allows us to fail or succeed on our own without expecting to get bailed out. I know we didn't when we went through issues with our own finances. We came out better for it.

God taught us to be content with what He has given us and that we were on the wrong road finanically. He taught us good stewardship principals that not only enables me to now stay home as a homemaker, but while my husband now makes three time more than we made in the harder times, we are able to live within our means and know that in a crisis we'll be taken care of.

I'm grateful for your post.

Blessings dear sister,

Rebekah

~~It's not my post -- I have been reading wonderful things lately that are put far more eloquently than I ever could. I am not the slightest bit politically-minded at all, but I'm also not blind and can see that what we have in place now just isn't working anymore. It's like Unions -- they were a good thing back in their day, but they turned deep into greed and corruption and they don't serve their need any longer; not the way they should or were meant to. They are more of a hindrance than a help and full of pure corruption. Their purpose is missing.

Same with our government and its standard practices. It's not working as it is, and is so far removed from anything it once was or was meant to be, and while it made gradual changes into the pits of corruption, it's still there nonetheless. People don't see it or many reasons -- they have been sold into it being the only way to function; they still see it as better than some 3rd world country's system of government; they don't know enough to have a clue what might be of help to themselves and honestly, they don't want to take care of themselves -- they want to have someone else lead, guide and direct.

I'm not any different than they are. I want that, too...I simply choose to put my faith and trust in The Truth and in God to lead, guide and direct my path. I take heed to the practical and allow the rest to slip away to where it belongs...not in my mind or worry. I have made arrangements for what I can, I will pray on the rest, and anything else will simply happen as it will regardless. The Lord is still God and He is still in charge.

Lord help us, and do not tarry,
Deanna

Monday, October 6, 2008 - Unions are a waste of time and money

Shared by Hisirishgem

Deanna,

AMEN!

I also had to comment again on your thoughts about Unions. I'm SO HAPPY that we're not the only ones with this thought. My husband is an RN. We pay ALOT from each check for Union. This past spring they had negotiations and made a deal the first day without taking ANY of the considerations of the nursing staff who pay their bills. Instead, they recieved a slight raise and for the next two years will continue to be without more than one aide on the floor to several patients. RN's have been expected to do their work as well as Aides and other jobs. Recently one of the women on Maternity ended up delivering her own baby because all the nurses on the floor were in delivery room.

We've been getting newsletters non-stop from his union who are using OUR money to send Obama propaganda to persuade all to vote for him. My husband has had it and will call them to tell them to keep their propaganda, that his money shouldn't go for such propaganda, but to maintain a better working environment for the staff for the betterment of the public and patients.

Anyways, I just HAD to post again. I totally hear you. We are dealing with this first-hand and are pretty upset about the whole thing.

Love to you dear friend!

Rebekah

~~I know. Dewey's job is currently non-Union, and last week the Union came by the site to put up their protest and "talk" as they like to do, especially in construction. They walked right in bold as brass and asked why this wasn't being run Union. He just smiled and told them it was -- he's been Union for a good 20 years and technically, still is as his dues are paid up to his home Local. They wanted to know if he was planning to hire Union crews and he flat out told them no. When we first moved here, he tried to get into this Local and they turned him down. Said he could move his Card, but they weren't open to Travelers. The base pay back at the home Local is nearly double that down here -- why would we move his Card here? That would be shooting ourselves in the foot.

When he was looking at first to change jobs, he went back to this Local and talked to them. They turned him down again, unless he wanted to move his Card. he told them why he wasn't moving it and they told him they weren't open to out-of-state electricians.

So, he's supporting his family doing the work he is trained to do...Union or not. They are too pushy and arrogant when it will suit their purposes and useless to their members when it's not in their purpose. They had a 'righteous goal' at one point in time but they've simply gotten too big for their britches in this day and age.

Deanna

No indulgences of self will can be trivial, no denial unprofitable; Heaven or Hell depends on this alone. A parent who studies to subdue it in his child works together with God in the renewing and saving of their soul. The parent who indulges it does the devil's work, makes religion impractical, salvation unattainable, and does all that in him lies to damn his child, soul and body, forever.

Our mission in life is not to go to some far-off foreign land, but to work at home and in our churches and home communities. Our goal should not be to leave behind riches and possessions, farms and homes for our children, but a priceless heritage they will cherish enough to work fervently to pass along to their children. It has been done for generations and with God's help it can still be done. In teaching our children, we are striving toward a deep understanding of who they are In Christ.
I am . . . a child of God, a gift to my parents and my country. I'm a person of great value because God made me.
I can . . . do all things through Christ who strengthens me. God has made me able to do everything required of me.
I ought . . . to do my duty to obey God, to submit to my parents and everyone in authority over me, to be of service to others, and to keep myself healthy with proper food and rest so my body is ready to serve.
I will . . . resolve to keep a watch over my thoughts and choose what's right even if it's not what I want.
