My Wonderful News
Posted on December 11, 2007 at 10:24
When I first decided to re-open this blog there was something that I did not yet know. Something that would make posting in one place, let alone two, very difficult for awhile. A couple days after my first “re-opening this blog” post I found our some really wonderful blessed news … I am going to have a baby! Sweet baby is due mid May of 2008. I, and my family, are soooo very excited!
Now that the extreme tiredness of early pregnancy has past and I am feeling pretty good I am hoping to start blogging here again.

In My Garden 10-3-07
Posted on October 3, 2007 at 01:23
We have finally started working on our Fall To Do list for our yard and garden! Yay! First we had to wait for the weather to begin to cool … our highs are still in the 90s/upper 80s but that is much better than the 100s! Then we got sick and then we went to family camp (Very Fun!). We drained our pool this weekend and disassembled it. The lining is laying out in the yard drying right now. We also removed several volunteer shade type trees and palm trees from our garden along with 5 tomato bushes.
Before & After …

This picture was actually taken near the end of July, the trees had grown quite a bit since then.

My poor sad peppers and roses. I think the bell pepper plant in the last photograph is the tallest pepper plant I have ever seen! It was hidden in among so many other plants that it had to grow long to get some sunlight. And the roses, lack of sun makes for sad looking roses! I need to prune and feed them … they will hopefully recover.
We still have so much to do:
- Box up pool and put in the garage.
- Remove the rest of the volunteer trees.
- Remove dead, dying and ugly plants.
- Remove all weeds.
- Prune all roses bushes.
- Add much soil to the garden.
- Level the yard and fill in holes.
- Seed the yard with Rye grass.
- Plant cool season veggies and herbs.
- Plant flowers … especially pansies.
- Add to this list as I remember what needs to be done! :)

Hello! I have been gone from this blog for some time but have decided to re-open it. Fall is coming, and here in Arizona, that means it is time to start gardening again. I love sharing pictures of my garden and Homestead Blogger is just the place to do that. :)
Here are some pictures of my garden taken today ...

The Mutt ... uh, Beagle
Posted on March 29, 2006 at 09:16

The mutt (haha!) is at the vet today. He is getting broken. He is seven months old and, since we do not want to breed him, it is time. My husband took him in and said he was loving visiting everyone … I hope he comes home with his sweet nature still in tack.
We are considering getting another dog so he will have a playmate. He is soooo full of energy! We have been told that Beagles are true pack animals and are much happier with a buddy. That they would wear each other out!! That would be a very good thing!
Today will be an odd day for the girls and I. Not hearing whining, yipping, barking, nose whistling and having to make multiple trips outside. Puppies are a lot of work!! lol

It’s raining, it’s raining!!! Our backyard is a lake! Arizona needed this soooo much. It is still coming down pretty good and I hope it continues for at least a couple days.
Thank you Lord for rain.

Grow your own avocados ... in the house!!
Posted on March 2, 2006 at 08:59
Jenig asked me if I can grow avocados here in Arizona. I have thought about trying but had “heard” that they do not do well here. I decided to do some research and see if it is possible. Unfortunately I heard right. Regular avocado trees do not grow well here … outside, that is! I found a website that sells dwarf avocado trees that can be grown inside as a houseplant ... just about anywhere. They will even fruit inside the house. Depending on your area they can be moved outside for part of the year. I have a lovely little bay window sitting area in my kitchen that is just screaming for it’s very own avocado tree!! I just need to ask my sweet husband. Here is the link:

Salad!!
Posted on February 27, 2006 at 04:11
My favorite salad ingredients:
- Cucumber and tomatoes - a goodly amount of each
- Lettuce - too much lettuce is the downfall of any good salad
in my extremely humble (lol) opinion! There should be no more lettuce
that there are tomatoes and cucumbers.
- Onion - just a little bit
- Avocado - lots
- Mushrooms - more than lots, lots and lots
- Freshly grated parmesan cheese
- Homemade ranch or Italian dressing depending on my mood :)
The above ingredients are essential for my favorite salad but being a
health conscience woman we also regularly add some other ingredients:
- bell peppers
- carrots
- radishes - well, this one we only add sometimes!
- Feta cheese
Fun things to add for a twist:
- grated cheddar cheese
- cottage cheese
- chopped almonds
- grilled meat
- hard boiled egg
I love salad!!
