The last day of July....

....I cannot believe it is July 31....where has the month gone....my kids made a list of things they want to do in the month of August because they feel the summer is going too quickly and they have to cram everything into the next month before school starts....it was funny watching them talking and writing their list.....we will have to wait and see how many things we actually accomplish before school begins.

Stephanie spent the day with her caregiver so the younger three and I headed to return all our bottles....then off to Wal-Mart to buy a booster seat for Daniel who now is required BY LAW to have a booster seat in the van because he is not tall enough or doesn't weigh enough to be without....Ethan is only an inch shorter than regulation and almost weighs the required amount...so I did not feel it necessary for him.

Then off to Home Depot so the kids could purchase a couple of wooden kits to build something....Daniel has been in the mood for building.  Audrey called while I was out and invited us for coffee and muffins...so we headed there afterwards.  Thanks Audrey for the coffee and delicious banana muffins...plus the hospitality is outstanding as usual.

On the way home we stopped at our local market and picked up fruit and veggies for the weekend.   Came home and made Orange/ginger Chicken with baby potatoes, fresh yellow beans and German tomato and cucumber salad.

When our other dd got home from work, Anika gave her a massage (she has a gruling job and her back has been sore since she started her new job)...and then Tianna took Anika to the movie store to return a couple of movies and bought Anika "this honking" big Snickers chocolate bar and gave her $2.00...Anika was thrilled to say the least.

Dd went out for dinner with her boyfriend and his parents...they went to the Keg...and can you believe it, dd only ordered a Salad....who does that when going to the KEG...we are talking STEAK/LOBSTER...she said she wasn't too hungry... my answer to that was...."ever heard of carry out"?  Oh well, maybe next time.

The kids spent the evening reading and doing crossword puzzles....Ethan is really enjoying crossword puzzles....Anika is reading the first book ..The Boxcar Children....she feels a little of a connection with the children.  Daniel was drawing and colouring pictures and then making them into puzzles...so it was nice to have a very quiet household for a change.

I did manage to finish the last of the Apricots...thank goodness.  Well I'm off to have tea with dh....Have a great evening everyone.

Friday, August 1, 2008 - I just read your comment

Hi again!

I just read your comment on my blog. I hope you werent offended by my story. I am a teacher at my church for the children with special needs and hold a dear place in my heart for the two little guys at our church involved with this ministry. My hubby and I were not able to have kids and he would not consider adoption...so instead God gave me this ministry and it was definitely a special blessing from God and it helps to fill the void for me, as well. I know exactly what you mean about staring b/c I have to take little Tristan into the ladies room b/c he cant go by himself...most folks at church know him and his family, but I've had a few visitors give me some odd stares when I am in the bathroom w/a 9 year old boy! BUT all the kids at his school just love him, makes you feel like you're walking down the hall w/a celebrity the way they all call out to him and such!!! ANYWAY, I just wanted to tell you how much I especially admire parents of children w/special needs and all the things they face that other parents would never dream of...I learn more every day that each and every child is a Gift from God and they sure can pull at our heartstrings, ya know???
May God Bless You!
Teresa
