Looking for scriptures on Holiness
Hi all. I am trying to teach myself to memorize scriptures (I am so lazy about that). It was suggested to me that I pick a topic and memorize scriptures that are topically linked.
I thought Holiness was a good place to start, but the resources I am using are not turning up what I want. I would love anyone to share scriptures that describe holiness as it pertains to our behavior...do not live according to this world, according to the flesh...you see what I mean?
Thanks in advance for any contributions!

I haven't found any of these books in our local library (yet), so it looks like I will be buying quite a few. I don't think you can ever have too many books, but you can spend too much money!
Not all these books are available new, either. I will enjoy the challenge of finding them; the cheaper the better! I will have to choose frugally.
What's on your list to read during this cold winter month?
Questions By Scarecrow

America – I love it here!

White- why is there even white IN the box? LOL
3. You finally saved up enough money to buy that something special you have dreamt about, what is it?
A ranch house with wrap around veranda on five acres.
4. You could have the world's biggest collection, what would it be a collection of?
Papyrus covered with hieroglyphs
5. You were asked to share something as a kid and you didn't want to, what did you out-right refuse to share?
I can’t think of anything I have ever refused to share, but if I could refuse: Cheetos
6. You could do something you always wanted to do since childhood, what would that something be?
Ride a camel in the dessert.
7. You were stranded on an deserted island and you could only take one thing with you, what would you take?

I've been tagged
This is a game that Makayla over at countrygalu has posted. I have been tagged by several people and now I will pass the tag on to 8 other people..
RULES: Each player list 8 facts / habits about themselves. At the end of the post, the player tags 8 people and post their names, then goes to their blog and leaves a comment in their message center letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read their blog.
1. I have two peeves when driving (otherwise, i am very peaceful while in the car)...People who ignore directional signs (Like driving out an "entrance only" driveway) and people who will not stop when you are trying to back out of a parking spot!
2. I love to read and read 5-10 books a month; History and Literature are my favorites, although I will read almost anything-cereal boxes, advertisments, etc.
3. I love Autumn! My family and I consider October 31st the kick-off of the Holiday season and we celebrate from then until the first week in January when we take down the Christmas decorations.
4. I have a terrible habit of picking my lips which grosses everyone out because I look so weird when I do it! I am trying to quit, but when I am anxious I forget. Stupid habit.
5. I do not like cleaning house, but I love organizing cupboards and things like that. Also, I make my bed everyday. If I could get someone to do the dirty work, I would be quite content to clean out closets and dressers and cupboards all day long.
6. I am an obsessive list maker. Sometimes I can list for two hours. What's weird about that is that if I am halfway down a page and write too sloppy, I have to crumple the page and start over LOL I get teased a lot about this because I list DAILY, and if we go on a trip...well, let's just say my family is begging trying to teach me to be more adaptable.
7. I am a starter but rarely a finisher (except in marriage and motherhood...THOSE I comitted to for the long haul). That means I have a huge collection of half-done projects. The good news is I can usually find something to do anytime, and also some of those things come in handy later. The bad news is they take up a lot of closet space (good thing I like oragnaizing).
8. I don't like "regular" cooking, but I love to try new recipes. My husband often requests that I don't try anything new for a while; He just wants me to make the things that I already know how to cook (Which is a hint that sometimes my cooking trials are unsuccessful).
Tuesday Thoughts
1. Kitchen Safety
Well, I always was taught not to throw water on oil, and yet…I waited too long to add lemon juice to some butter and WHOOM! Huge pillar of fire reaching to the ceiling. Did I lose my head? Oh no. I promptly tossed the pan in the sink…AND TURNED ON THE WATER! Duh. My curtains were NOT burned up, but no thanks to me. I can now say that all those years of teaching did me no good, but now the rules are firmly “burned” into my brain. We call our mistakes experience!
2. On Giving
A parent was over heard to say “I am so tired of my kids living in poverty when I know they tithe.” I DO believe that when you give, you receive. Even non-believers know the principle of sowing and reaping. However, if you give but do not use the wisdom God gave you to spend the money that remains….Enough said.
3. Good Stewardship
This sort of goes along with the above. Every good and perfect gift comes from above. As a Christian I see that every thing I have is God’s. So, I need to be wise with it. Good stewardship is not just about money: You are stewards over your children, your home, your body (Uh oh), your jobs, your planet…the list is lengthy. I know if we are faithful in the little things, God will give us more. Prosperity is not just about finances; it’s about well-being and wholeness in every area of life!
4. On Gardening
Don’t you all wish every plant was grown by bulb? I sure do. I had some in my top drawer and they started to sprout. I quickly dug holes and popped them in the dirt. Doing nothing else, they are already growing and about four inches tall! If only tomatoes and corn would grow like that!
I am very eager to start my hay-bale garden, but am a bit behind because I have yet to procure Ammonium Sulfate. This weekend I will do it. I will also begin planting my seeds for indoor starts, beginning with the lavender. I can’t use my little planter by the slider because my cat takes naps in it…unless someone knows an effective (but not cruel) way to discourage him!
5. On Breaking bad habits
I have a weird habit: I pick my lips. They are always chapped and I hate the dry, raspy feeling of that…so, I pick. Now, I decided on Sunday that it was time to stop! It looks stupid when I am doing it, and my lips are sore and ugly, too! So, I am going to go 28 days (the amount of time it supposedly takes to break or make a habit) without picking, using copious amounts of Chap Stick, carmex and whatever else!
Any ideas for a replacement habit? It’s something I do when I am nervous, too…going for a walk has been suggested, but when I am in the middle of a conversation that makes me anxious it seems impolite to up and leave LOL All ideas are welcome!

Friday Feast
Appetizer
If you could take lessons to learn any musical instrument, which would you want to learn?
The Harmonica; My grandfather could play and I always wanted to learn.
Soup
Have you ever mistaken a person for someone else?
No, but people often mistake ME for someone else. I must have a generic face…I actually had one guy think I was his COUSIN!
Salad
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?
TEN, but only if the secret is prefaced with “please don’t tell anyone,” (I am not very good at determining on my own what people would prefer left unsaid, I guess).
Main Course
What's the closest you've ever been to a dangerous animal?
Twice I’ve walked by rattle snakes while hiking, and once I was about two feet from a large black bear (there was a sliding patio door between us). They have cute faces, but those claws are HUGE!
Dessert
When was the last time you lost your patience?
I lose my patience so regularly that it’s hard to pinpoint a specific time. I think it was yesterday, when my son barged in my room and started looking through drawers to find something!

- I have slipped behind in my Christmas task list (by now I should have everything but the baking done...do I? Oh, no).
I could go on and on, but today, the list doesn't inspire me. I think I will pick the top three most important tasks and do them.
