Mineral Deficiencies in Tomato Plants
Posted in Gardening Goodies
|
I've noticed several enteries of people asking what could be wrong with their tomatoes plants. Many are saying that the leaves are starting to yellow, the leaves are curling, and the plants are small. These can all be signs of mineral deficiencies. I found a website that shows colored pictures of how the plants with different deficiencies look. Most of these problems can easily be corrected with some fish emulsion or compost/manure tea.
Check out the photos and see if your plants look anything like these.

We just planted our early tomatoes outside yesterday. So far they look good and the ones still in the little greenhouse look good too.

I've been watching the posts because my plants don't look perfect--not too bad--but some of the leaves aren't quite the right color. I didn't think mine was the wilt problem as I got my seeds from a reputable company and haven't put them in the ground yet--not that it couldn't be a possibility--it just didn't seem the most likely solution--especially since they aren't exactly wilting. Anyway, I think I'll give them some tea before the leaves decide to change any more colors on me :D Thanks for the tip!
Warmly,
Elizabeth

This was a helpful site, sadly that's not the trouble with mine :( . They do have yellowing droopy leaves, but are tall and have all the other symptoms of wilt. I appreciate you taking time to comment on my blog AND the time to look this up and post it. You are a dear lady!
Happy Mothers Day :)
Hugs,
Catherine

Hi Anne
Can you give me some hints on growing tomato plants. Every year I give it a go, but end up with too tall, plants that start producing very late. I suspect my pruning is the problem. I pinch back the "sprouts" that come up between the branches...but is there something else I am supposed to pinch back to make a denser and more fruitful plant.??
thanks
