Staying or Going

Most of the time when we think of missionaries, we picture someone living in the jungle fighting off snakes, and eating bugs...or a lonely family shivering huddled around a small fire as the frigid air whooshes through their drafty house....

Funny how our minds work....we forget that do a degree all Believers-those who have trusted the LORD Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour-we are missionaries all the time...it's just that we are not all called to go to a distant land.

Going to a mission field is simply going to where God leads you and giving the gospel, ministering to the people around you...arent' we ALL supposed to do that? Why do we think there are only a select few who are to do the work of everyone?

HMMMM

OK, so we can't all go, but we can all pray for missionaries, we can encourage them with notes and offerings.

Another thing is to take your family vacation money and time and go on a short term mission trip to help missionaries who are already established.

A final option is to take time, and go locally or to another part of the USA, a big city is ideal, and do the tourist scene but stop and minister-give out tracts, do a little street preaching, engage strangers in conversation and try to win someone to Christ.

When I first went to live in NYC, I was terrified of the people, but guess what, they are people just like the ones in the smallest backwoods town. They seem rough around the edges, but they need Christ too.City folk need the LORD too.  It's easy to talk to friendly folk, or ease yourself into a casual gathering of people at the local feed store or lumberyard (I mean no disrespect bcz that is the background I come from) but to foist yourself into conversing with strangers in a place that is considered harsh and unfriendly requires divine assistance.

Perhaps NYC is a bit too large.....start small...go to the next town or city that is larger or busier than your hometown, and work your way up to the big cities.

Who knows, maybe you will win the one who God will call and use to turn our nation or another nation upside down for the LORD.

Missions

Missionaries need our encouragement and support. They need us to pray for them daily, fervently interceding for their health, protection, wisdom, and that the LORD will strengthen them to stand against the devil and the evil of this day and age.  Many of us think America is so evil and wicked, and it is, HOWEVER all you need to do is visit another country, even Canada, to realize that by comparison America still has some "rules" to dictate what is acceptable on billboards and such.

One way we would like to support missions is by taking some mission trips to help them on the field and visit them where they serve.  To do this we need to earn money to get passports and save for travel expenses-mostly airfare.   This is how we are earning some of the monies.  www.youravon.com/dleib  Though my son's name is on the webpage, all dealing will be with my daughter and I. You can email me/us at joyful help meet at home AT Yahoo dot com. (no spaces)  Please pass the link on to you family and friends, church members etc. Thanks a bunch.
